Brentwood's Vehicles Require a Different Standard
I detail a lot of cars in Brentwood. Porsches (Taycan, 911, Cayenne), Range Rover Sport and Autobiography, Mercedes G-Wagen and S-Class, BMW M-series, Tesla Plaid, occasional Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The common thread: these are vehicles where paint quality and condition have real financial stakes.
A Range Rover Autobiography costs $170,000+. A new 911 GT3 is $230,000. A Ferrari 488 is well into six figures. These are not vehicles where you experiment with a new detailer or save $50 by choosing the quickest option.
Here's how I approach detailing in Brentwood, and why the approach differs from standard LA detailing.
Pre-Work Vehicle Assessment
Before touching any vehicle in Brentwood, I do a thorough assessment:
Identify the finish type. Most modern luxury vehicles have standard clear coat. Some have matte or satin finishes (common on custom-ordered Porsches and Ferraris). A few have existing ceramic or paint protection film. Each requires completely different products.
Document existing condition. Any pre-existing damage, stone chips, scratches, or paint defects are noted before work begins. Clients with premium vehicles rightly expect that any issue they pick up after a detail was not from us — and I make sure we can demonstrate that.
Assess paint condition. Has the previous detailer left buffer trails? Are there swirl marks from improper washing? Does the clear coat show any UV oxidation starting? This assessment determines which steps are appropriate.
What Changes for High-Value Vehicles
### Product Selection
We adjust every product based on the specific finish and material:
- •Matte and satin finishes: Matte paint cannot receive standard wax or sealant — they will create shiny spots and ruin the finish. We use matte-specific products designed to preserve flat finishes.
- •PPF-covered vehicles: Paint protection film requires gentle products that won't lift edges or degrade the film adhesive.
- •Ceramic-coated vehicles: We use pH-neutral wash products and appropriate ceramic-compatible detailers — not standard wax that would coat over ceramic.
- •Alcantara interiors: Alcantara (the suede-like material used in many Porsche, Ferrari, and high-end BMW interiors) requires a completely different cleaning approach than standard fabric or leather.
### Application Care
On a standard vehicle, a slight product application imprecision is inconsequential. On a Porsche with a specific paint color that cost $15,000 to order (like Shark Blue or Paint to Sample), it matters. We work slower, panel by panel, with more attention to edges and trim junctions.
### Machine Work
I do not machine polish paint without explicit client knowledge and consent. On vehicles with ceramic coatings or PPF, machine work can damage these investments. If a client wants paint correction, we discuss it clearly: what it will and won't address, whether it's appropriate for that coating type, and what the cost is.
Discretion and Professionalism
Brentwood clients value discretion. We arrive in a professional vehicle, work cleanly and quietly, and leave no trace behind beyond a perfectly clean car. We don't make calls in your driveway. We don't bring extra people who aren't needed for the work. We work and leave.
If you're out during the detail — which most clients prefer — we send a completion notification and the vehicle is ready when you return.
Our Brentwood References
I don't post client names or vehicle details without permission. But I'm happy to provide references from existing Brentwood clients for clients who want them before booking a first appointment with us.
